Trying not to get too bogged down in schadenfreude, but Van Rompuy reminds me of Hitler in his bunker in April 1945 moving imaginary divisions round the map of Europe and how he will rule the world.
My opinion for what it is worth is that alas the EU will survive this and will throw the kitchen sink no matter what the cost is. Europe will pay the price with low growth, and an accelerating decline in relative wealth and power, compared to India and China.
