You thought John Cleese was joking

You might know this chap already, after all he must be important as he is a Privy Councillor, but just in case you haven't heard of him may I introduce to you the Minister for Silly Walks,

Rt Hon Tom Harris MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport

Amongst his responsibilities is this,
"Walking".

What the flipping bejesus. We have a minister with responsibility for walking.
On a more serious note, he is also the Minister responsible for the great London transport project Crossrail. Which is useful seeing as he represents Govan, Pollock and Cathcart in the fair city of Glasgow. And of course transport is a devolved issue so the weegie can bugger up London to his heart's content, given that his own electors couldn't give a flyer.
