There are perks and there are perks. If you are a political group leader in the European parliament there are a number of fringe benefits. You get a bigger office; you get the use of a chauffer driven limo, anywhere in the EU, and so on.
But the greatest of all is the monthly gift from the City of Strasbourg. At the begining of each session some minion is despatched from the Hotel de Ville with a box of these, which are placed lovingly on your desk in the Parliament.
I don't know how they can survive without them.
