It appears that the Germans have cancelled the big opening gala for the World Cup. Which will no doubt be a good thing. I have never understood what those great pompus firework and pc fests were all about. I watch the Olympics to watch sportsmen and women do their stuff, and the World Cup to see England lose inthe second round.
If you want to watch kiddies sing dance and wave flags around whilst superannuated pop stars attempt to rekindle their glory years then Live 8 is the place, not a sports event.

It appears that nobody wanted to go and watch the event that had spiralled to a whopping 17 million quid just to enjoy Solsbury Hill.
