Teddies and prams

Which two Western nations would you imagine least likely to start a terriritorial spat that would lead to the dispatch of warships?
That'll be Canada and Denmark. But blow me down that is exactly what they are doing. The squabble is about a piece of ice girt rock by the name of Hans island, (no doubt Christian and Anderson Islands are about somewhere). The spat was precipitated by a visit by the Canadian Defence Minister to the island without first lettingthe Danes know.
The Danmes are now hotfooting it (maybe a different verb would be morte appropriate) to the Island to plant a new and sturdier flag upon it.
“If we manage to reach the island, we will hoist a new Danish flag. We're trying to change the flags as often as possible because they are quickly torn apart by the strong winds,”

Is "Irisheagle" in any way connected to the Irish claim to Rockall? I think we should be told.
