Today the interviews are taking place, I believe for the newly created post of BBC Europe Editor.
Two of the four shortlisted candidates are Tim Franks, currently European Correspondent who has, for example written one story about the whole Barroso Latsis affair, despite the fact that the man is now having to deal with a motion of censure and Mark Mardell, currently the Beeb's chief political correspondent and a serious player. Another is one of the team on Newsnight, and the fourth I know not.
Personally I pray Mardell gets the job. If Franks gets it, along with Martha Carney as Head of News you can wrap up any open coverage on the Beeb in referendum and EU presidency year.
