Rumour's doing the The Sunday Telegraph today report that Blair's people are putting it about that Brown is just about to deliver his final budget, the showdown is to come.
One rumour doing the rounds is that Gordon was offered a choice viz.
Go, or
Keep the job and run the Constitution referendum.
Neither, I understand, appealed to the morose one.
