Spin on EAW, May promises more than she may

The Telegraph is reporting that after a series of bad news stories about extradition agreements to teh Us (Gary Mackinnon, Tappin) and to Europe (Symeou, Taylor, Hollands et al.) that they are to have a review. Theresa May said,

“I reflect on the importance of the relationship between the UK and the USA, but I am also aware of the comments being made outside this House and inside this chamber, that is why I think it is entirely right for the coalition government to agree that we will review that treaty.”

Of course there is nothing they can actually do about the EAW, even though as the Telegraph itself has shown over the past month there are now hundreds of Britains being sent abroad with no evidence being presented to the British courts.

Wh?

Simple, because it is EU law and it would take unanimity in the European Council to allow Britain to opt out. That is not going to happen. When the Law Lords had an opportunity to look at it during the Symeou case they decided to reject the appeal it was of no interest. Moral cowardice.

So more dishonesty from the Government on Europe.
