Chris Davies, the local papers think he is important.

No really, up in the Wirral they report that the local Lib Dem MEP, one Chris Davies of the winged golden cock fame, has called for the resignation of Rajendra Pachauri.

Mr Davies claims the conclusions of the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change have not been shaken by recent criticisms, but admits that political will for action has been weakened.
He is calling for IPCC chairman Rajendra Pachauri to offer his resignation to assist the organisation in regaining its authority.
Weirdly he doesn't think there is anything wrong with the Indian Rasputin, but that he should go anyway,

"Dr Pachauri has been targeted by climate change deniers with commercial interests to defend. It may be unfair but damage has been done."
I suppose it is in that great liberal tradition where people are innocent until proven guilty.

Me? I want all the evidence of Pachauri's great wealth, and how he got it, plus the way he deliberatly misinformed the world over great chunks of the IPCC paper to be laid out in a disciplinary procudure. I don't want him to resign, I want him sacked.

But what struck me in the Wirral Globe wasn't this key detail, but the fact that Mr Davies was the 5th story in the Wirrall, behind this...
A REWARD is being offered for the safe return of a parrot that has been stolen from a Wirral pet shop.

Jasper, an African Grey parrot, was taken from his cage by a gang which smashed its way through the front door of Irby Pet Shop in Thingwall Road, Irby, in the early hours of Friday, February 26.
Local police are looking for a one-legged man.
