Rumour has it that Prescott is being lined up for a job at the Council of Europe. So the tradition continues, failed British politicians rest in the European Elysian pastures, yet again.
The sad thing is, is that the Council of Europe is/was a decent organisation that looks after things like fair elections, lord help us.

It's been a long time since the Council of Europe was a good thing.
It has a horrible habit of taking the view that all breaches of human rights are equal - whether that's a restriction to the right to strike in western Europe or systematic torture and imprisonment without trial elsewhere.
The problem is that the only countries that take the slightest bit of notice of them are those that already have quite good records on human rights. Consequently, they spend a disproportionate amount of time focusing on those countries because they know that (free) journalists in those countries will give the reports prominence.
It all fits into O'Sullivan's Law.
"All organizations that are not actually right-wing will over time become left-wing".
Another one bites the dust. I cite Amnesty international as a complete capture, and the FSB as well on its way.
Still, I don't think it is fair on Strasbourg, there are some nice people there.
It appears he wants the gig due to his desire to keep either his seat in the Commons, or perish the thought his seat in the Lords.
That's the funniest thing I've heard in years.
Mwahahaha. Mwahahaha. Mwah.
