Call me old fashioned, but I had always thought that traditional Conservative principles involved a little more than "value for money and professionalism". Where to start, trusting people rather than the authorities with their lives, maybe?
Oh Defence of the Realm? Or the government as umpire rather than as participant?
Oh no what we have as the key manifesto pledge is an "Environmental Crimes Unit".
