Malta's cross subsidy

The wholesale purchase of Maltese society by the European Union recieved a significant boost last year when 9.25 million Euro came sailing into their farming sector.
The reasons for their recieving this aid, according to the Maltese Government? "Maltese farmers suffer from lack of rain, lack of soil, small fields, limited market and high transport costs".
Now frankly if as a farmer you suffer from that collection you might consider packing it in and becoming a bed and breakfast merchant. Ah, no these days we have agricultural subsidy to offset reality.
